1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using Copilot Assistant ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Extension.
2. Description of Service
Copilot Assistant is a Visual Studio Code extension that provides development process management, log analysis, and related features. The Extension offers:
- Free Trial: 7 days of unlimited access to all features
- Free Tier: After trial, limited to 10 queries per hour
- Pro Version: Unlimited access via one-time purchase of $10 USD
3. License Grant
Upon purchase of a Pro license, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the Extension. Each license:
- Can be activated on up to 3 machines
- Is tied to your machine ID and cannot be shared
- Requires revalidation every 24 hours (automatic)
- Is for your personal or commercial use
4. Payment Terms
Pro licenses are purchased through Stripe payment processing. By purchasing a license:
- You agree to pay the stated price of $10 USD (one-time payment)
- All sales are final (see Refund Policy for exceptions)
- You will receive your license key via email within minutes
- You are responsible for keeping your license key secure
5. Refund Policy
We offer refunds under the following conditions:
- Within 30 days of purchase
- If the Extension has a critical bug preventing use
- If the license key was not delivered and cannot be recovered
To request a refund, contact us at support@copilot-assistant.net with your license key and reason.
6. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Not share, sell, or distribute your license key
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Extension
- Not use the Extension for illegal or unauthorized purposes
- Respect the activation limit of 3 machines per license
- Keep your VS Code and Extension updated for security
7. Anti-Tampering and Security
The Extension includes security measures to prevent license key tampering and unauthorized use. Attempting to bypass these protections may result in:
- Immediate license revocation
- Denial of refund
- Legal action if applicable
8. Data Collection and Privacy
The Extension collects minimal data necessary for license validation:
- Machine ID (hashed, non-personally identifiable)
- License key and activation timestamp
- Usage statistics (query count, trial status)
We do NOT collect:
- Your code or project files
- Personal information beyond email (for license delivery)
- Browsing history or other telemetry

9. Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service, but:
- The Extension is provided "AS IS" without warranties
- We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect service
- License validation requires internet connectivity
- We are not liable for downtime or service interruptions
10. Intellectual Property
Copilot Assistant, including all code, documentation, and branding, is owned by the developer. Your license grants you the right to use the Extension, but not to:
- Claim ownership of the Extension
- Redistribute or resell the Extension
- Remove copyright or attribution notices
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any damages arising from use of the Extension
- We are not responsible for data loss or corruption
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid ($10 USD)
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective:
- When posted to this page with an updated "Last Updated" date
- For existing users, 30 days after notification via Extension update
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your license if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent activity
- You attempt to tamper with license validation
Upon termination, you must cease using the Extension and may not be eligible for a refund.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Massachusetts, USA.

16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Copilot Assistant regarding use of the Extension.
